The abortion controversy has raged on for so long in this country that it's hard to believe someone could actually make a new point.
But they have.
Anna Quindlen's latest latest op-ed piece: "How Much Jail Time" (Newsweek, August 6, 2007) points to this video taken outside a Libertyville, IL abortion clinic. Filmakers ask this question of anti-abortion activists demonstrating outside the clinic: If having an abortion should be illegal, what should the penalty be for the women who choose undergo the procedure anyway?
I'll tell you in advance, nobody has a good answer. Possibly the best argument yet for why women should control their own reproductive destiny.
