I was chatting with a friend yesterday and one conversation lead to another and she ended up remarking to me, in the most off-handed of ways, that she really hadn’t seen any movies to speak of for the last eight or nine years or so.
For a few seconds I was speechless at the thought.
I mean, sure, sometimes I go for as long as eight or nine days without a movie, especially lately, but eight or nine…years? It was truly beyond my comprehension. Movie titles began to spin around in my head, slowly at first, but then gaining speed and momentum, ultimately leaving me dizzy.
Finally, stupefied, I managed to spit out,
“But you can’t mean absolutely NO movies, can you? I mean, like, you’ve seen, say, “Shawshank Redemption”, right?”
(And, yes, I realize Shawshank is more than nine years old, this is just the first random title to emerge from the vortex that was my scrambled brain at that moment.)
She hadn't.
And so I fell out and paramedics had to be called in to shock me with electric paddles until I regained consciousness.
And so then I got worried about you guys. You have...right?
Because friends don't let friends miss Shawshank.

Well, you know. I take my 12-yo son to a kid movie now and then. But as far as going out to a non-kid movie? Maybe one a year or so. That said, I do rent a fair number of movies. But really, I do that mainly because my spouse likes them. If it were up to me, I wouldn't even own a TV and probably could live on one movie per decade.
Um, well, *hanging head and shuffling feet* - actually I haven't seen it either.
And I don't go out to a lot of movies, although I go to movie theaters more now that I've become a semi-retired part-time working person, than I used to.
Since I didn't talk to you yesterday, this wasn't me. However, it could've been. No "redemption" for me, either.
I'm just so glad you regained consciousness!
I think so, but not for sure.. BUT you HAVE to go see the debaters at maiden alley.YOU HAVE TO. Go early it was sold out tonight.
